Darkling Wonder

Again,
raven beauty,
the severe blue
of evening forest canopies
or remote desert skies
at twilight,

clear and rich
and shot through with stars
promising more
--------------stars,

sings into me,

and the midnight shadows
under rocks and trees ---
where sister moon's
lambent sighs never seem to reach ---

glow
red and pink,
with tiny paper lanterns
gently swaying,
lit by song.
